Our wines begin in the vineyard, its “fundamental value.” Fortunately, the combination of old vines (1920), the soil and climate, in other words the “La Consulta Terroir”, create this fount of exceptional wines. The estates are irrigated with pure melt water from the Andes. The varieties grown are Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cahardonnay, Torrontés and Semillón, totalling 40 hectares. It is planning to plant Pinot Noir and Petit Verdot.
The winery contains high technology equipment consisting of stainless steel fermentation and storage tanks, French oak barrels and temperature, and a light and humidity stabilized cellar.
Our balanced style, using a technical-artisanal wine making process, enhances the complex character and aroma of the fruit. In this way, we preserve all the hues and profiles of the grapes in the “La Consulta” terroir.
Soils: alluvial origin, sandy-loam, abundant gravel and rich in mineral deposits from the Andes. Altitude: the vineyards are located between 950 and 1250 meters above sea level.
Climate: considerable day/night temperature range resulting in an average 15 °C between minimum and maximum. Precipitation: annual rainfall average of 200 millimeters creates a dry continental climate which liberates the vineyards of pests and diseases.
All sectors in our vineyards are cared for with minimal soil interference. Weeds control is done culturally in the planting line and between rows. The vines receive a basic preventative treatment with copper sulfur. The vineyards are cultivated using techniques which have a minimum impact on the environment, and in the short term, organic certification will be acquired.
